The Artist

I am Ashley Segal and I am the artist behind these canvasses. 

It took much of my life to affirm my identity as an artist - even though I should have seen the signs much earlier. 

I was born in the 1980’s and raised in rural Manitoba. As a middle child, creativity was necessary to pass the hot summers at our hobby farm and amidst my two siblings in our modest rural home. From paper dolls, to crafting, and even painting rocks, I used novel-mediums to make play from my surroundings. 

Art, and the science of colour were always top of mind as I worked as a hair stylist for the last two decades - my hands always deep in a bowl of colour.

I had always dabbled with art classes and amatuer pieces, but it took a pandemic for me to truly arrive. The pandemic took something from all of us. After the doom and gloom, I emerged rekindled and ready to be the artist that I am. 

By committing to my paints, I’ve come to realize my passion for creating one-of-a-kind pieces for my wide-array of buyers.    

When I paint, I showcase my true spirit. Time “stands still” and I find myself at peace -  swept away by the creative process.

I am humbled to see my custom work in the homes, offices, and galleries of Winnipeg and beyond.
